Hi All,

I want to publicly thank the following folks who have generously donated prizes for the contestants of the 2014 Local Woods Challenge Build. First on the list, I'd like to thank RC Tonewoods and the Cefalus for donating an African Mahogany back and side set paired with a Canadian Cypress top as a prize for the challenge build. Thank you for your generosity! If you would like to donate a prize for the challenge build, please PM me.

What a generous donation! It is great to have sponsors like RC Tonewoods take such a interest in the activities here at the forum.

It is acts like this that make a lot of us happy to spend our money with the sponsors.

If you buy some red oak and pine from Home Depot which is 2 blocks from my house. Does that count as being local.

Does red oak and pine grow in your area? If so, yes. The contest is about having a guitar made from wood that grows where you live. The wood doesn't have to come from a tree in your area, just a type if tree in your area.

Well pine grows in Tennessee and oak also grows in Tennessee. Don't know if it's red oak or not.

Thanks, Bob & Sons, for providing the prize. I've been very busy with work and have yet to start on my "local woods" project, but hope to get after it here in the next month or two.
